An Addicts Prayer

Dear Lord, please give me the strength to say no and If I can't, how long will I travel this dead end road?
Dear Lord, please forgive me, for I have sinned once again. I hope that you will still have room for me when my journey comes to an end.
Dear Lord, please help ease the hurt and pain that I have inflicted on everyone I love. Please help me to stay focused on the eternal life that waits for me in the heavens up above.
Dear Lord let me not be tempted when the devil's dust blows in my face. Please let the end come soon to this high I've had to chase.
Dear Lord please give me the courage to fight this battle that I'm not guaranteed to win. With everything I've said dear Lord, In your precious name,
Amen

About this poem

My own personal experiences inspired me to write this poem many years ago. I still struggle from time to time with my addiction. My faith and trust in Jesus will give me the strength to keep fighting and one day overcome my addiction.
