A Friend

“I’m your friend”, so they said with zeal
Made me believe that it’s for real
“Am there for you”, “Care for you”
Were only their words, if they knew

We grew close, I know we did
Made me feel secure and wanted
Probed me to talk and shared we did
I let my guard down, happily slid

I was alive, I talked, I felt, I cried
Now I feel foolish, my soul died
They left, with no word, no care
Now I feel betrayed and in despair

Lost faith in friendship, it means no more
Lost faith in people, that walk thru my door
Hurt, pain, anger, sadness, all taking toll
Feel sorry for myself and those that are cold

It’s better to bottle up and smile
Than live with hopes that last awhile
To my grind, not as the same, I return
Just another lost human, living his turn

I shall still holdup my end of the bargain
As a friend, a stranger or even a toy again
Need to talk, be held or hugged
I’m here for you, I haven’t unplugged

Mahesh Wadhwani

I always apologize for the length of my text as that’s the best way for me to communicate rather than verbally!! Not a man of many words but still manage to doodle when in mood to write, which is rare!! I am not even sure if what I scribble is poetry or even what form or just words that rhyme!! To me writing is an art, a sign of creativity and a means of expression. I don't really think that anyone can just write without any feelings, without having felt, without having lived, experienced or cherished. Whatever one writes, there is some amount of a persons own feelings and presence or of those around them, indicated in the works. So I am thankful to all the people in my life and those yet to come for having given me life, love, happiness and even pain. At-least I have had the opportunity to feel it , live it and express it, whatever it maybe. Cheers! more…
