Unsolved Questions

From time to time, I ponder,
on questions that make me wonder.
What is life without tomorrow?
What is love, if all it brings is sorrow?
If I lose my hopes, my dreams, my spiritual way of life,
am I lost, from whom can I borrow?
Is it all for naught, or have I forgot?
For all I've done, I can't outrun, the finality that follows.
From time to time, I ponder,
on questions that make me wonder,
but nothing is resolved,
and the questions remain unsolved.

About this poem

This poem depicts a man or woman without faith. Consequently, they have no peace because they are trying to solve life's mysteries on their own. This poem is to make you think, and to know that you are not alone. The poem does have a disturbing, troubling, and haunting element to it. The narrator's feelings of being lost and "is it all for naught" are directly linked to his lost of his "spiritual way of life." I enjoyed using my poetic freedom to illustrate a different point of view. Ironically, I omitted my middle name, Charles, from the poem's credit to somewhat distance myself, based on my own personal beliefs. And yet, the poet in me had to tell "Unsolved Questions" story. This poem has a place in my heart. Somehow, however, it felt unfinished, so I was prompted to add this addendum. It is your faith that leads you to these questions getting resolved. Happy ending.
