Frightened Cats and Mice

Angela Wells 2005 (Minnesota)

As darkness falls across the night,
Shrieks ring out, full of fright.
The young lady as what she’d be,
Saw what hung from the tree.
Her cat hanging on quite tight with its claws,
Struggling to keep from the jaws.
The neighbor’s dog was very close,
But that’s what the lady saw at most.
She smiled at what she thought,
The dog only wanted what was caught.
Hanging from the cat’s mouth,
Was only a little, measly mouse.
