Illusions

Claudia Krizay 1956 (Washington DC)

Illusions

I believe
Nobody has ever walked this path
before trees had grown to nearly meet with the skies.
I find the gift of solitude inside a world of my creation-

An idle breeze would lightly rustle the leaves upon the trees.
The muted sounds of footfalls of deer
Follow closely behind me-
I would pose before a birch tree
Reflected amongst still waters-

Orioles recite in tune within a sibilant breeze
Stirring the high grasses about a meandering creek-
I believe in the veracity of my spirit,
This faraway nirvana
This magnificent world of my illusions
Where my thoughts play diligent symphonies.

Wild geese in flight journey
towards unknown tenements beyond the skies
while chanting baritone choruses as
I stroll beneath the moonlit skies in my dreams

I am singing a song
Choreographed for me alone
in harmony with the intonations of sparrows.
