In Blood Red Skies

jody l cooke 2021 (north carolina)

In Blood Red Skies

There are tainted dreams
in my head, and a chilling
hand of death with blood
dripping from our bed.

Voices are calling from far
away, leaving me with no
more words to say.

Demons come to burn me
with their flames, for the
love I have for you makes
me insane.

So come on now and play
my game because when you
gaze into my eyes you know
you are going to die.

I'm haunted by those tainted
dreams as I hear our screams
in a dream of blood red skies.

They say come and fly
with me and join the game.
It's all the same in blood red
skies you know we all are
going to die.

Voices keep calling me
calling me to let go.
Voices are haunting me
to let the blood flow.
someone is going to die
when they look into my
eyes in a dream of blood
red skies.

They say come and fly
with me and join the game.
It's all the same in blood red
skies you know we all are
going to die.
