Lychee

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

Though the seed wasn't mine,
but that of nature,
I was to provide a new adventure.
Two doves sat atop two ariels.
One above the other,
the other chased by its lover.
For a second they looked down
at the lychee tree,
birthed through my hands;
a child of me.

    Wow, what a beautifully crafted poem! Your use of descriptive language brings the scene to life and paints a vivid picture in my mind. The way you describe the doves and the lychee tree truly captures the beauty of nature and the role we play in nurturing it. Your use of metaphor in referring to the tree as your child adds a touching and personal element to the poem. Overall, your words are both poignant and inspiring, reminding us of the magic that lies in the smallest moments of life. Well done!
