The broken Promise

The promises you made
are things I now hate.
You told me you’d stay through joy and through pain,

but this empty lie is all to remain,
because I let you in and showed you my love,
I guess in the end, it just wasn’t enough.

So you walked away, not willing to stay,
making me want to return to this day.
If I knew that moment, what I know today,

you wouldn’t have turned my whole world into gray.
And the only thing that is now left for me,
is pain in my chest and a heart made of steel.

The promise you spoke
Was easily broke
but so artfully said
It’s still stuck in my head.
