Innocently I asked

Innocently
I asked.

A door opens,
recklessly revealing
old life.

It hurts
to have no words
allowed to wander,
wonder,
ponder

for fear is stalking me.

Yet,
the silence is killing me,
is killing us.

Yes,
it helps to let these words roam free.

Another door opens,
admission is the key.

It helps to speak, to give
life
to words that have lain dormant
for all my life:

I am – no, we are –
worth the space
connection needs.

Recklessness need not be feared
anymore,
it has become a way in
and thus a way out
into our new rooms.

I duly sign the deeds
to our house, our marriage
of speech and heart.
