Black december

Mark Cloutier 1972 (Kaneohe)

Black december
And just remember
The holiday in memory
Of gifts that were sent
In a last attempt
To quench and represent
A thirst for knowledge
And a light sparked
In the darkness
Of an inner world
That we would escape to
To find a life
On the inside
As what was cast
To the outer enters
Within us in light
Lit in the midst
Of a night and day
That was led astray
At the last and first
Of those who chose
To speak it
And hear it
And as a friend
In consummation
