The desire to run..

I keep trying to find a life
On my own apart from you,
With a long list of excuses,
For every selfish thing I do.
What's going on inside of me?

I despise my own behavior.
It seems to confirm my suspisions,
My convictions are prone to waiver.

Disease of self runs through my blood
It's a cancer fatal to my soul.
Attempts on my behalf have failed,
To bring it under control.

There's no where to run.
There's nothing left to lose.
The secrets that where buried,
In your presence are defused.

Pride has no position.
And riches have no worth.
The shame that did come over me
Has been sentenced to my earth.
