Apology

The letter which you wanted and I never gave
The words which you wanted to hear and I never said
The togetherness you craved and I never provided
The spite you had within and I never knew

All my inadequacies which you overlooked
All my mistakes which you masked
All the hurt that I inflicted
All the sarcasm which you bore

The apologies will say but will not erase
The tears will shed but not avenge
The smiles will show but not hearted
The caress will entice but not arouse

The heart knows but does not believe
That a sorry will not change things…
Or will it...

About this poem

Anger dissolves love but apology can revive the heart.
