AN ‘AU PAIR’ COMING HOME AFTER HER DAY OFF

The twilight mysteriously lurking,
the evening breeze softly blowing,
and the excitement of the day
soon will be carried away.

My tired feet dragging along the narrow path,
And the shivering body craved for a long hot bath.
This weariness slowly sucked me hollow,
Urging to swallow my own shadow.

The cold night creeping around my nape,
I tightened my scarf and raised my cape.

At the gate I stood still, hesitating,
collecting pieces of feeling.

The warmth of the welcoming home
Whispering words of hope
“Tomorrow is just a day to borrow,
To drive away any trace of sorrow.”
