What Is It You Demand Payment For?

Meshack Bwoyele Keya 1960 (Vihiga)

Sickness strikes unceremoniously.

Bedridden arises seriously.

Treatment is urgently sought.

To the hospital the sick is brought.

Main aim is to seek wellbeing.

And whole to make the ailing being.

What is it you demand  payment for?

If my sick succumbs before.

The medics tried their best.

Unique medicine put to test.

Best doctors offered their expertise.

The sick person the best not miss.

They struggled with entegrity.

Yet the sick had the teeth so gritty.

What is it you demand payment for?

If my sick succumbed before.

My sick passed on in the quest.

Though a big Bill on the table rest.

"Pay before the body do release."

The doctors ordered without a tease.

To bury is what I do need.

Your medicine never germinated a seed.

What is it you demand payment for?

If my sick succumbed before.

About this poem

The aim of taking the sick to hospital is to help them get well. If they do not react to the medicine and pass on then what do the doctors demand payment for?
