Dear Future:
Dear Future:
Are you there?
If you answered no,
Would the world even care?
If you told that addict
That their end was very close
Would they put that needle down?
Or will they still die tomorrow of an overdose?
If you showed that parent their child's tomb
From their untimely death from abuse
Would they stop beating their baby today?
Or will we still hear about it later on the 9 o'clock news?
If you told the school's bully the child their teasing
Is going to take their life in 3 days
Would they start being kinder?
Or will we still read about this tragedy due to that bullies ways?
Future, if you told the world
That racism is going to end us all,
Would we all stop seeing the differences?
Or is our world still going to fall?
Dear Future: Our world doesn't see your chaos
All they view is present hate and greed
They don't seem to know the consequences
Of paying more attention to their news feeds
The people are blind; feeling hopeless
Mostly lost and so confused
Killing their own kind everywhere
Unaware and unconcerned of the worlds abuse
Future: Our world is dying and in serious trouble
I'm not so sure I'll get to meet you now
There's millions just like me; scared the same
Prayers hoping to see you some day, some how
I know you have a purpose, Future
For us all down here on Earth
But we will never live to talk about you
Unless the entire world starts finding it's worth
If only the world could glimpse you
Even just slightly; down the road a few years
Do you think they would ALL do it differently,
Dear Future? Or is it all going to end in tears?
About this poem
This was written to send a message to the world. A message meant to inspire change. A message similar to a reading into the future. That someone or something can be damaged to point of no repair.
