STRANGE RENDEZVOUS

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

A strange rendezvous
In a cornfield late at night,
Mysterious figures prancing
Around in the moonlight.

Witches, demons, manticore
Swirling around and around,
Chanting evil words to Cthulhu
Calling him to the nearby town.

Loathsome beings dancing
In the overgrown cornfield,
Calling up foul Elder Gods
To make their rivals yield.

Black-robed figures cavorting
With beings from before time,
Monsters from deep out of space
Enough to make you lose your mind.

Aliens, egrigor, foxes, and werewolfs
Keeping a strange rendezvous,
That every third month, they carouse
Beneath the light of the moon.

Blue Men, green men, hippogriffs
Frolic with elves, and Iron Men,
Hypno, Electro, and the Harvester
Swirl round and round and round again.

Mayhem, magic, the mysterious
Committed beneath the moons rays,
Evil rites are being performed
All before the light of day.

The Iceman, and the Almost-People
Dance 'neath the light of the moon,
Devils, demons, elves, and imps
All meet in this strange rendezvous.
