Overflowing Hearts
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Be merciful to me, O God,
For in You my soul takes refuge;
The shadow of Your wings I laud,
Harmful storms causing a deluge.
I cry out to You the Most high,
For You fulfill a role for me;
No questions in wondering why,
Through Your insight so I can see.
You send from Heaven to save me,
Shaming whoever would trample;
As Your steadfast love does decree,
That my enemy will crumble.
Lions are surrounding my soul,
I lie down with fiery beasts;
But with You being in control,
Not a single one on me feasts.
Be exalted, up in Heaven,
Let Your glory be over earth;
That the insight will be given,
So everyone sees Your true worth.
My enemies have set a snare,
Where my soul had been bowing down;
They dug a pit if I would dare,
Filled with water to make me drown.
But my heart is steadfast, O Lord,
I will sing and make melody;
Because You are loved and adored,
And I will give praise unto Thee.
Awake up, my glory awake,
I will awake at early dawn;
O harp and lyre I will make,
Song until the darkness is gone.
I will give thanks to You O Lord,
I will sing praise to the nations;
By remaining in one accord,
And building solid relations.
Your steadfast love is always great,
Faithfulness and truth to the clouds;
Mercy and grace will compensate,
Unto Your saints within the crowds.
