Love, they say, has many faces
and no certain path it traces
and its’ ways ever amaze the unbelieving.

Like a figure in the mist
or a lover barely kissed
lies the dream… between flesh and fancy.

Touching agony and mirth
to a piece of common earth
can yield a wondrous birth…if passion wills.

Born of need and great desire
to sate the raging fire,
amid  labor’s final pain…. it cries!

From the dark of the womb
to the shadow of the tomb
