Alone in the dark

Vivian D Timmins 1955 (United States)

The feeling at night when you're all alone, chills your body right to the bone. The stillness in the air has a hollow touch almost as cold as you, but not quite as much. The sounds of silence wrap you in eerie & weary there's no warmth or compassion, nothing humane... All alone, when pain shows up at least you have a familiar, now you're not alone, because pain never leaves, never goes home.

About this poem

I discovered my boyfriend was sleeping with my daughter, so the life we created got destroyed in a moment. He put me on the street with no chance to prepare, never let me in again, so homeless I am and when I'm alone at night and everyone else is warm at home. I sit in my car all alone. Have work in the morning. Life sucks right now. Of course I can laugh because she didn't stay. She never wanted him anyway. But I'm the one that suffered the most and still am. I hate him extra at night.
