CULTURAL OF SILENCE

CULTURAL OF SILENCE

They say it is against culture
It is the believe of the old
That when men talk
Women must keep silent
They say it is not against custom
Neither is it against their rule
That violence against the women is normal
That husband raping a wife is justice
They said molestation is not wrong
After all women are always half naked
With the desire to be molested
Shut up they say it is not an abuse but a lesson
The abuse is public and private
The perpetrators are well known
Yet we are commanded to keep quiet
All for heritage, culture and family obligation
Their secrets must remain secret
Their scandal must be hidden
They say culture and tradition empowers them

But I say zero tolerance to rape
But I say zero tolerance to violence
But I say zero tolerance to spousal abuse
I say zero tolerance to molestation
I say zero tolerance to child abuse
I say zero tolerance to gender inequality
It must be stopped, culture and traditions
That insist on human subjugation
It must be stopped, every culture and tradition
That stands against human unity
It must come to an end
Every culture, religion and traditions
That eradicate loving ones neighbor as self
After all, we are the keepers of these barbaric culture and traditions.
