When I see you

When I See You

I see you in your wilderness, your beauty in disguise.
Although you hide your gaze from me, the darkness in your eyes
Reflects your certain loneliness, a duty left undone,
Where two hearts beat separately, when both should beat as one.

I see you in your early morn, and at the break of day
When sunshine tries to fill your life, but just obscures the way
For you to reach your destiny, with love at your command
To give to others on the road, whenever they demand.

I see you at your mid-day time, when shadows often hide
To share a meal, so hurriedly, each other to confide
Our thoughts and our inanities; to laugh with little fun,
The fleeting knowledge of the plan that we should be as one.

I see you in your even time, when dark and light collude
To fashion patterns in your mind, and in your thoughts obtrude.
Down steps of great reluctance, to fields of shifting sand
Where you risk your all for them, except you take my hand.

I see you in your darkest hour, and at the depths of night
Where you lie so sleeplessly, while hoping that the light
Will clear your mind of memories and stories not so true
When you thought the one you loved could still believe in you.

You see me in my loneliness, no beauty to disguise.
Although I hide my heart from you, the darkness in my eyes
Betrays my certain wilderness, no duty left undone.
Where two hearts beat separately, when both should beat as one.
