My Hometown Timarni!!

Hometown brings memories of childhood
Invisible fragrance of  crops in multitude

My Jamindar grandfather's big house
Where I would run around like a mouse

Of Uncles, Aunties and so many cousins
Where mangoes were eaten in dozens

Huge kitchen where my aunt cooked
No one's seat was ever pre- booked

House echoed with everyone's laughter
There has been nothing like it thereafter

Visiting the fields with the family for picnic
All of us in mood for fun, playing gimmick

My grandmother telling us bedtime story
Who at that time was in her full glory

The bullock cart ride was certainly bumpy
With all the mattresses hardly felt comfy

So many cows and buffaloes in shed
Milk in abundance, wanted tea instead

It was sheer joy eating together in a thali
Jumping and running around in the gulley

Every vacation we wanted to go there
As if no place to go elsewhere

Never has any trip to any destination
Never have we had any such vacation!!
