Once I Loved

Once... I loved
by LizaBella Stephenson

I am alone now
I sit
Left with memories
Like grit in the cogs of my mind
Poisoned arrows that pierce my heart
And leave me weak and anguished
Much like the ones that pierced hers
She shone with beauty and brilliance
And for one brief moment
She was mine
But only for a moment, an instant
An echo of what might have been
Emotions are like tidal waves
Leaving you bruised and ravaged
I sit and watch the night sky
Dark and deep with intents and promises
And I think
Once... I loved
