You and I

John Goff 1985 (California)

When I’m not with you, I lay awake at night. My thoughts run wild about you and I.  I’ve cried a thousand tears wishing you were still by my side, reaching for a body that’s not there, this feeling amplifies! I’m mourning a loss that I can’t admit, I’m struggling babe, you and I till we die, I’m always here to have your back, I’m yours, don’t tell me otherwise.
Every time I get a text, hear your voice, look into your eyes, a kiss, a hug, the slightest touch from you brings me back to life.  There’s no substitute for the love that we had, I hold on to things that made me the happiest in this life.  You and I have survived and already fought struggles in this life that would’ve crippled the strongest man or woman, yet here we are still standing high even at our lowest that should be enough to testify of the truth of you and I.
You exhilarate my being, pull the darkness away. I know that there’s still good in people and the world because I’ve learned to look through your eyes and push my ego aside, I still fight with my pride but it’s easier to do because of the light that you shine.
We are more than meant to be, I know this true. I love you in ways I can’t explain I just know my love is meant for you. You and I are strong alone and powerhouse as a team. Together we do more than our solo souls can do alone; I know you know what I mean. I smile a thousand smiles from memories of the past. You and I can make a million more, take a chance, and take a hold of my hand, my arms are extended I’m trembling for your heart, I can feel your fingertips reaching touching my hands. I kept my promise, I haven’t gone anywhere. I’m still here, let me share your fears, your heartaches, your joys, your dreams, you and I babe, no matter how hard it seems!
You and I, even it’s just another moment in time; to me it’s worth another try. You and I is so much more than just YOU or I. You and I, yes babe, you and I.
