As It Is To Give

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

To be as one is to give to gift another,
Getting to get.
Will be a gift to value and remembered,
More to treasure as priceless.
That increases to keep,
The worth of what was given to received...
Kept to know,
There is nothing else that can come close...
To one giving who they are to be.
Without this to doubt or suspect,
Them of wearing of a mask to remove.
Revealing one day,
Someone else unknown.
Showing a butt told to kiss.
To wish too late,
What was exposed and how it was done...
Could be that nasty to miss.

'I can't believe all this time,
You had me that fooled and tricked!'

'I warned you,
There was another side of me.'

'You did.
But gee!
Where was I,
To have missed the smell of your mess?'

'Deluded.'

'Deluded?
Deluded by what?'

'Deluded by a packaged wrapped.
That I told you time and time again,
If you keep refusing the contents...
Too examine closely.
One day,
Even the cover to fantasize what's inside...
Will disappoint.
To find the truth of it disgusting.'

'I thought you were talking about a book,
I wanted to buy long ago.'

'Same thing.
And still,
What did you do?
Went ahead and ignored,
Everything I said!'

'The mind and time changes!'

'That's the first time we agreed,
On anything.
However...
That change done to come.
For some? Yes.
For others?
Not that much!
