Mountain Time

Mountain Time

I am but a moment
sitting on this rocky cliff
forced to ponder nature's secret clock
and how much I will miss

Wind, water, heat and earth
slow effects; subtle tools of change
lend me brief snapshots of miles
of worn scenes on this open range

Mountains now flat, with crown-like plateau's
capped by a recent carpet of green
with vistas that speak a low moan
singing nature's slowly changing scene

Millennium moments
their story near which I must pale
but still I contemplate this grand view
played out on a cosmic scale
