50's Black and White

50's Black and White

Without color you saw lines and shades
what people said was more then you saw
light and dark had an intimate touch

your senses were tight; your sigh was raw
in a dark room or in the brightest day
what you did became as a movie scene
on and off; in and out, hot or cold; contrast
closer to that feeling of a youthful dream

we whose innocence was beautifully isolated
thrust to a magical mystery; new each year
yet we held on to that time of light and less
remembering a collage of edges and textures
not better; just clearer
