Without Fault, Flaws Or Blemishes

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

We all have our faults.
Flaws.
And recognizable blemishes.
Perfection to define it?
Has yet been proven,
Examples of that...
Anyone these days can say,
That rarity to have they can prove.

Although sitting in the midst,
In fiction to delude.
Are people who perceive,
They have achieved untouchable status.
And entitled with rights to lead.
Without scrutiny.

But for whatever the reason,
Their minds have been fixed...
To stubbornly believe,
That a position given to them to sit...
In a position of authority.
They can and do excuse to validate,
The power of their hypocritical ways.
With a doing that makes,
Charading pretensions to masquerade...
Okay for those who have acquired status!

'Don't you think what you say and do,
Is a contradiction.
Hypocritical and deceiving?'

'That depends.'

'On what?'

'On WHAT?
How much more obvious,
Can the obvious get?
I sit in a position of leadership.
And my status to have it,
Makes me an exception to rules I break.
I enforce the rules and laws.
You don't expect me to obey,
Such nonsense.
Do you?'

'Yes!
We all do.'

'Well...
Open your ears and hear this clear,
I am not...
Like you people.'

'You people?
What do you mean by 'you people?'

'Here we go again,
With this 'show and tell' stuff.
You people.
Ya'll or you all.
Whatever your preference is.'

'What an offensive, thoughtless.
And demeaning thing to say.'

'I know.
You want a box of tissues?'

'Where is your heart?'

'In my chest.
My God!
Where is yours?
I don't believe what's going on!
What is this now?
A Biology quiz?
Geeessshhh!
