A Mother's Abyss

An ode is,
What she is.
Whose belly bears a bliss.
She who cares like a flowerbed,
Breathes life with a kiss.
Smiles there, the Mother lost in the abyss.

An ode is,
What she is.
Whose smile, in a box, she keeps.
Buttons Bangles and candies tossed.
Amidst the night's multitude, she secretly peeps,
Weeps there, the Mother lost in the abyss.

An ode is,
What she is.
Whose tails we have charred.
Skins bruised. Eyes boiled. Livers cooked.
Wagged like a Victorian Flag, now marred.
Rages there, the Mother lost in the abyss.

An ode is,
What she is.
She who bears a fruit. Lends water.
On the breasts of whose, we rob and cheat.
She then wrecks, wraths, and shrieks slaughter.
Smiles again, the Mother lost in the abyss.

About this poem

It revolves around the quintessential love that motherhood begets and the various phases of a mother's life in general, right from caressing us like a flower to being a lioness of our hearts who is not at all feeble, as the society portrays women nowadays.
