DAMIAN: THE ANTI-CHRIST

We live on scraps and hand-outs
And YesWest asks, “Who cares?”
A brutal fiend named Damian
Leaves our larders bare.

Damian and YesWest
What a strange and brutal pair,
They let us die of hunger
Claiming they have naught to spare.

So we go on blundering
Wondering why they just don’t care,
They say they’re doing all they can
But leave us in despair.

We beg and plead for charity
But charity is so rare,
They say to live on what we’ve got
But we can’t live on air.

So Damian is laughing
To see our larders bare,
Rejoicing in our misery
Delighting in our despair.

About this poem

Nothing to do with the Omen novel or films. This poem is about a real-life fiend named Damien, who 15 years ago was head tyrant at an unemployment centre, in Footscray, called YesWest. In the end he was put out of business by the Australian Federal Police for all sorts of rorts. I was only too happy to be one of four-hundred+ people who gave evidence against him to the Feds.
