Admission Of One's Mission

Admission.
To having,
An attraction to ambition.
And inspired by just a spark,
Of incentive that starts...
One on a path to explore and adventure.
Takes determination to ignite the flame.
With unrelenting motivation.
Earned from a learning,
That what is sought to achieve...
Is not served to anyone undeserving.
Since those sitting back,
Awaiting to hear for that special delivery...
To knock at their door,
Maybe left waiting.
As time and age,
No one can afford to ignore.

An admission to having ambition,
That overwhelming attracts.
Comes to many at an early age.
Yet never is it too late to acknowledge,
A destination to endeavor...
With effort of it made,
Is within one's sight.
And much better to keep that way.
Than a hindsight kept to reminisce.
To repeatedly hear from one who sits,
Talking about the 'what ifs'.
With an attempt to sell embellished B.S.

'You know...
When I was a child,
Much younger than the kids today.
All I had were obstacles to face.
Not the opportunities,
You young folks have these days.'

'May I offer you a tip?!'

'A tip? Sure. Go right ahead.'

'Those chips you are eating?
From my point of view,
Have lost their crunch.
And I can only imagine,
The taste is stale.'

'Stale?
I like them just the way they are!
I don't understand,
What do I do,
Have anything to do with you?'

'Today?
Not a thing.'

'You kids,
Have a lot to learn from us older folks.'

'Trust me,
Every time I am around you...
There is a lesson I am learning.'

'Great.
I am glad you said that.
Now...
As I was saying,
Back in the '50s'....'

'That was before I was born.'

'And I don't know that?
Sit.
Listen and you might learn something.'

'I'm on the edge of my seat.'

'OH?
I thought you were preparing to leave?'

'And miss the next stage coach?
Are you kidding?'

'I said the '50s'.
Before computers, 'selfies' and sex,
To freely download messed up your mind.'

'You got me there, 'pops'.
Hold on a sec.
Somebody's sending me a text!
