When you are there

When you are there
but not there!
You know what I mean,
it’s not always as it seems,
you may be there
but miles away some where.

When you are there
you may be lost in a  daydream
if you are lucky,
or it could be a nightmare,
who can fathom your quagmire ?
You may be there,
but not quite here.

Life’s quandaries
up and down the shutes.
Sunshine and rainbows one minute
then  menacing dark clouds begin
to descend upon you
sure and sanguine.
Life’s  jitteries
never fail to catch you in your miseries,
when you are there
but not there.

Life cannot always be
as comfortable as two peas in a pod
joy and despair both can be our lot
when you are there
but not there.

Throwing in the the towels or
throwing down the gauntlets
which shall be your outlet
going down the wayside
or picking yourself up
if you have been on the downside?
When you are there
but not there.
