True Crime

Dodging shots because you got to
Close your eyes
Hear them coming for you
Nowhere to go
But can't stay here
Living life like you
only know despair
Need to keep moving
don't want the past
to catch up with you

Lost your vision
and your dreams too
Think you're standing,
but you're fast asleep
When you hear the alarm
just keep hitting snooze
Don't worry about what's going on
just keep playing your favorite song
like they will
at your funeral
You had your chance
and lost sight of yourself
Could never see yourself without me there

When I took my shot
knew I wouldn't miss you
When I first saw you
time stood still
Heard everything you said
never listened to you
Only listened to the voicemail
your message stuck on repeat
but I never got it in time
I should have been there
should have been there for you

Always working overtime
had no time for us
I close my eyes
you're still standing there
Have no idea what happened
still hear the alarm
Your favorite song is playing on the radio
Had my chance
and lost sight of myself
Couldn't see myself without you
but I was never there
there for you
And now all I ever see is you
