Free Falling

When I begin I am flying but my heart rate is normal.
As I close in on my destination the intensity is strong.
When it’s time to go my heart beats like never before.

Now that I am flying alone, my surroundings so serene.
My anticipation has turned to wonder and I am free.
Floating on a stream of air, cutting through the wind.
My excitement is apparent and my enthusiasm surreal.

But all good things must end, that time is almost here.
So quickly it is all over but my mind and my body cries.
I can’t wait to do it all again, free falling from the skies.

About this poem

I've always wanted to skydive. I've never done it but I think about it often. This was one of those times I was thinking about it.
