Dying Thoughts

As I lay here feeling lonely, in pain,
I hear the lonely whistle of a train.
I’ll likely die laying here in the rain.
I was stupid and got shot in the brain.

A scam by you I could never believe.
Thought I was in love, too blind to see.
Now you laugh at me and ignore my plea.
I was naïve to think that you loved me.

As you walk away, I think of the night
that we met in the park, under the light.
The night that stranger gave you such a fright.
The clues you left me, I see in hindsight.

I can’t see you now you’re too far away.
Everything around me is turning gray.
For me, now would be a good time to pray.
Soon I will see that heavenly gateway.
