I am

I am a soft, but strong, driven black girl.
I wonder about what my future holds.
I hear people saying,”Oh! That’s Malaysia! I look up to her!”
I see people talking about my story all across the world.
I want to be known as “the black woman who did something great.”
I am a soft, but strong, driven black girl.

I pretend to be on a sailboat in the middle of a beautiful, turquoise ocean.
I feel God watching over me and telling me everything will be alright.
I touch the people that believe in me, the people that believe I can achieve.
I cry to become a powerful, inspiring leader so I could help others.
I am a soft, but strong, driven black girl.

I understand I may not turn out the way I wanted in the end, but
I say I can do this, and the people that love me say I can do this, which helps me not to give up.
I dream for black people to dream like me, and not to look vulnerable to the public.
I try to donate and help children I see on the side of the street begging for money as often as I can.
I hope I, and everyone else, turn out to be okay because
I am a soft, but strong, driven black girl.
