Grounded

When the hurt subsides,
The anger sets in,
The tears no longer rolling,
Such deep rage within,
For where there was a heartbeat,
There’s now an empty space,
All that I knew around,
All I wanted to embrace,
The family that I longed for,
Was never meant to be,
Life took a new direction,
A path that set me free,
The family that I now have,
Was more than I could dream,
It built up my hopes and confidence,
Far more than it would seem,
The sadness that once lingered,
Was left so far behind,
For now I know what love is,
As the people around me are kind,
For every little heartbreak,
My hurts replaced with joy,
The child once so saddened,
Now a girl who met a boy,
Now every little wobble,
Is caressed with guiding hands,
Happy memories being made along the way,
As I walk on golden sands,
The path I walked was flighty,
So insecure and fully bound,
Yet now I feel the universe,
Every time I touch the ground,
I treasure every moment,
Far from the fight I left behind,
A peace that fills the whole of me,
It heals with passing times,
Now a mother and a wife to be,
A former shell that was so rounded,
All insecurities have finally left me,
For now I am the one who’s grounded.

About this poem

The truth is Its not what you know, it’s what you don’t know, until life reveals its path, so never give up on your dreams, they may not always turn out as you expected but they can certainly become something so much more than you’d ever dreamt of xxx
