Alien Voices

Where streets once danced in light,
Now lay in rubble and fright.
Forgotten tunes are played,
Among the shadowed flames.

Shadows glaze the dismal towns,
Where once was music all around.
Now monotone drumming is the sound,
Of alien voices rejected and drowned.

Libraries stacked with dusty books,
From which I deliver this poem to you,
Laptops opine their dreary lines,
As outsider aliens are left behind.

Those foreigner footsteps snubbed and scorned.
A haven they seek, where they’ll be accepted upon.

About this poem

Hey my sunny bunnies! :) This poem is about racism and 'alien' metaphorically means foreigner. This is about how life once used to be so bright and beautiful until racism came along. Now people discriminate based on race and culture, impeding themselves from learning new ideas and techniques from outsiders. These people long for a place to be accepted for who they are, a haven where they can retreat to. Many of you gorgeous people out there may be going through something similar, so always remember to talk to someone. Sometimes, our sky can feel like a ton of bricks, but you don't have to hold it up alone Racism and discrimination are a real problem in the world! We must work together to bring awareness to this! Hope you liked my poem :D
