City Blues

Ronald-Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

Is it not the winner behind
The scene who makes the poetry good?
Is it not the winner's prestige and his walk
On the earth that brings his poetry to life?
Is it not what the winner earned that makes
His words, lines and score worth bleeding for?
Will a loser behind the scene make the poetry good?
Will a loser who wasted his life bring poetry to life?
Will a loser who didn’t earn anything make his words,
Lines and score worth bleeding for?

Can a winner not be a sinner and a loser not be a hero?
Everyone's in battle and they'll use every excuse to say it's not abuse.
Not everyone receives justice on this world, but, to know:
“Life is not fair,” but, in the end they'll know that God judges
The enemies of those who didn't receive justice.
They'll receive recompense for losing their hair.
In a depression it's harder for a late bloomer,
There's more room for a tumor than humor.
Can a great work of art make it in a world falling apart?
Someone needs to make a new way for the
Less fortunate who are falling down,
Or many will be dragged apart in this hell bound town.
In the streets: it's lost and found.
You can find great characters who are homeless.
If you give them a chance, watch them dance. :)
