Blue Water, White Sand
In my mind I am miles away
on a small boat on a sunny day.
The water is blue, with barely a cloud in the sky.
It's just the boat, the water, and I.
The gentle breeze, against my face,
entwines me with it's warm embrace.
I lay down, giving in to the sea,
that forces my eyes shut and sends me to sleep.
So peaceful in my rocking slumber,
surrounded by this all blue wonder.
The world, seeming so far away,
It's just me, peace, and this beautiful day.
The sound of gulls crying overhead,
awaken me from my floating bed.
And breaking waves, like music in my ear,
let me know that land is near.
I board my rowboat and woman
the oars, leaving the sailboat for the sandy shores.
I stop to skim the blue water with my hand,
relax, letting the boat now drift
slowly towards the land.
As I meet the shore with the ebbing
tide, it's now the shore, the sand, and I.
The waves recede from this vacant shore,
with white sand like I've never seen before.
The sand feels cool under my feet,
as I watch the tide from my sandy seat.
Hot air balloons passing by,
block out the sun and color the sky.
I walk in the diamond-like glistening sand,
and bask in the peacefulness while I can.
No noise, no problems, not a care.
I sit back in my sandy seat and
breathe in the fresh air.
I sip a drink nice and slow,
enjoying having no place else to go.
I watch the waves shine like gems in the sun.
The sky and the water merge into one.
Where life loses all sense of demand,
time is lost in the white of the sand.,
Lulled to sleep by the sweet ticking
lullaby, alone we are just time and I.
I awake, feet covered with white sand,
I let it trickle through my hand.
And as it passes through my fingers,
I wish out loud for the moment to linger.
The sound of the ocean plays like a symphony.
The tide returns to touch my toes,
as the sun begins to set and go.
The water no longer glistens blue,
with the setting sun it's changed it's hue.
And time is no longer important to me,
as I have traded time for the sea.
I return to my boat, starlight
guiding my way; a beautiful
ending to a beautiful day.
The glow of the moon shining
so brightly, it's now the moon,
the stars, and me.
