Before You Speak

BEFORE YOU SPEAK

Before you say anything
before you utter your words
to express your rebuke
Or venge any criticism
Or perhaps even any pleasure.

Is it not better
to hit your pause button
and run your words
in your mind’s vision
to make sure it’s not absurd?

Is it not more logical
Is it not kinder
to take a step back
snd ask yourself
Is what I am saying
necessary in itself?

Is it adding anything to the grand design of things in the universe to shine
or to the person in question.
Is it even true what you are saying,
perhaps just in passing?

If we hold our tongue like this
there will less things
of misunderstanding
less strife amongst us,
less heart breaks
and less misery thus.

Think before you speak
Is as good a message as
Look before you Leap!
