A Year Ago Today, & A Tumultuous Year

A year ago today ,
& A tumultuous year.

A Year Ago Today (20 July 2020)

Twentieth July 2020
will forever be etched
in my memory
when a dagger was seared
through my heart suddenly.

How agonising too to get
this horrendous news of calamity
not from anyone but that too
from my younger daughter Jahnavi.

She rang me around this time at 9:50 am
in the morning.
She telephoned from London crying
to tell me that her beloved sister Bonnie
older and only sister of Jahnavi
is no longer living.

Bonnie had carried out the ultimate act
any person can do : suicide
that too by the double whammy
 of overdosing and hanging
possibly in the early hours of Twentieth.
Twentieth July of Twenty Twenty
is forever etched in my memory.

A Tumultuous Year

It’s been a tumultuous year.
A year ago of my daughter’s demise.
Loss of hope and mental strife,
the cause of my daughter’s sacrifice.

Disbelief, shock and horror.
The agony gnawing in my heart,
the meandering  sorrow and hurt,
an array of emotions burnt.

She took her life , did she pause a moment ?
Cannot imagine the turmoil in her mind
that one precarious moment of time!
How I wish I was there to stop her demise.
It’s been a tumultuous year of soulful cries.
Loss of hope and mental strife,
the cause of my daughter’s demise.
