Deal me in

Should the need ever come upon you to hear me say your name.
You merely have to deal the cards and
I’ll join in the game.
Playing at the table where a bluebird
used to dine
As it sipped on golden nectar that always tasted fine.
Wearing the rose across my breast that grew one non-forgotten season.
Having survived a long time winter without any rhyme or reason.
I’d sit on the hand you lay before me afraid to ask for more
And only play the joker,
Not the ace there on the floor.
We could open a bottle of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and raise a glass to good times past
Then sign a pact of reassurance to a friendship that will ever last..
