New Mexico

The orange red glow of the Organ Mountains at sunset
The rich green hills sitting in the distant horizon
Rain falling on them selectively.
The sky opens its arms for the earth’s warm embrace
This is New Mexico.

Clean air kisses my skin, the sunlight washes away any hurt
Another side of my soul is awakened
Once smothered by stress and ignorance
Now its glimmering illumination rivals that of the sun.

The freedom of the open road
The friendships gained that will last
The bright colors of the setting sun behind dark mountains
The happiness and the good times
Never to be forgotten.
