Shell

Screaming inside,
Nothing there.
Running out of ink
Shards of brevity I wear.

Empty shell.
Appearances deceive.
Moon shines down on this hell,
Pieces of identity leave.

Time goes on and on.
Tears whisper their departure.
Cold fingers feel life’s yawn.
Hope gone, there is no cure.

Lost and alone,
Breaking apart.
Clarity out the window,
Can’t mend a broken heart.

So there’s a smile.
It tells lies.
Giving to others, while,
It knows its own sick demise.
