Interviewed

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Interviewed.
And qualified to be selected.
To be among the ones chosen,
Evidence to find proof of fraud.
Corruption to deceive the belief,
It was everywhere under their noses.
Openly but yet left to leave,
Revealed without probing for it.
To claim,
When testifying under oath.
Not to have found any witnesses.
Regardless to have previously admitted,
A volunteering to be interviewed...
To put an end to a pointless,
And unnecessary investigation!

With it then heard to whisper and say,
Quietly to a presiding judge.
After permission to approach,
His polished cherry chestnut bench...
'How much would you pay us...
To lie again?
If we...
Hypothetically did it.
Say...
For example.
If we should sit,
With innocence and tears.
Dramatically flowing,
From our rehearsed eyes!
Would you pay more for that?
Hypothetically speaking.
Of course.'

'Well...
That would depend.'

'Okay.
On what?'

'The price you are asking.
And at least,
10% of the proceeds.
Cash!'

'Deal.
