No Room in Bethlehem

No Star, no Angels,                                                                                                                                   herald the coming,                                                                                                                                     of a 'motiveless' Savior.
To end the brutal, senseless mayhem,                                                                                                         there is no room in Bethlehem.
No shepherds no  guiding star,                                                                                                                         no wise men carrying
frankincense and myrrh of peace,
to unravel the tangled threads,                                                                                                                of  age old claims,
there is no room in Bethlehem.
No humble manger to soften
the hurt felt by each deep within,
to bathe the wounds                                                            
and absolve of blame
there is no room in Bethlehem.
No David yet reborn to vanquish
the Goliath of retribution,
to quell the fury of hatred intense,                                       to douse the flames of rage,
there is no room in Bethlehem.
No will, no compromise emanating,
crescent, star and heaven itself mangled yet,
to save sacred Jerusalem,                                                      
to live and let live  
there is no room in Bethlehem.
