Crave

Erick Arvizu 1980 (Williamsburg, VA)

Crave

Twisted like a delicious pretzel
Salted and drenched in butter
You’ve come to crave the love I give
With the notion I could love no other

Famished and in dire need
You crave a life giving nutrient
Hoping that with a breath of love
I’ll whisper we two are meant

In the moment of highest ecstasy
Your soft lips tremble and quake
Tears fill your sea green eyes
In realization of your mistake

Waking to an emptiness
You’ve never known before
Craving what you can’t have
To leave you wanting more

Tonight I may return to see
The weakness in your beauty
Teaching you a lesson on love
Earning a degree in your humility
