The Color of Him

The Color of Him

I want to have a baby and I don't care if it's a boy or girl, either love will do. But I am afraid to have a son. I am careful to choose his dad based on his hue. For if my son is born to dark, he is viewed as a threat and his chances of surviving in the world has been reduced to a percentage.

This Colorism of fear oozes from my heart in order to protect my child from a world that is dark. For I am in love with a black man and his dark skin tone. That black melanin and sweet honeydew arouses my soul, so, I want to give him a baby for me to love and hold.

That little black boy of mine is a joy to me. Oh, how the world will never appreciate his hue and the honey that drips from his sweet smile and up bringing of respect. For my boy will be educated but that won't be enough for possible success. I will have to place a ball in hands or at his feet for him to be seen and adored and not treated like he is less than or beneath.

See I will KILL America over my baby, from someone else misunderstanding because of a thought or maybe. I want my boy to live and become the black man he should be, could be, and ought to be. A black man with pride and dignity. Would his life be easier if he is lighter complexed, less threatening or complicated?

I believe his struggle will be the same no matter his shade. My little black boy, skin dipped in chocolate coated covered bliss of coco butter, Shea butter and chocolate mint of sunshine and honeysuckle, all that goodness wrapped in an almond butter hue.

The beauty of his father and God all in one has been gifted to me to raise and bless the world as God chosen Sun. My black Sun is the stars and moon. His rich complexion and deeply roots have been planted like a seed and watered through.

I will watch him grow and rise above all that was meant to destroy him. I need him live to cherish his land. My black Son is honey from the bees that I and his father regurgitated, for him to be all that he can be.

His black skin is fruits grown from soil blessed by oils designed from his parent’s veins of divinity. He will always be my baby even as a grown Black Man for I will teach him to love and adore his gently polished Black skin.
