Life Without You

Life Without You

Today and every day is just the same
A bunch of nothingness without you
What is life when you can't enjoy it

I wake up on repeat and autopilot
Just waiting for your touch, your kiss
That will never again be felt

Death is a bitch but living is worse
Life without you is death
Waiting to be released from this prison

I wish I could say
I saw you today when the sun rose
I heard you today in a child's laughter
I felt you today when the wind blew

What bullshit that is
Nothing is you, nothing will ever be
You were my smile, my joy

That day is still on replay in my head
Your lifeless body laying on that bed
The sounds of beeping and cries

I guess death takes the good young
No more pain, no more hurt
I try to tell myself that

Nothing will ever be the same
Life will never be the same
I will never be the same

About this poem

This poem is about how I felt when my 30 year old husband died. I was 28 years old at the time with 3 kids and no real support. I decided to write this to possibly help others in similar situations.
